Combat2College

History lesson

Combat2College was a Jacksonville-Based non-profit that helped returning veterans reintegrate into society after deployment. They offered a wide range of assistance to veterans, including job placement, funding for bills, coaching resources, and assistance with funds to return to college.

My role

At Combat2College I was strictly a volunteer-based consultant. For the 3 and a half years I worked with them I was a sitting board member and an active member in their development working on their technology and marketing. During my time there in short I implemented new marketing campaigns, rebuilt their entire web platform, and developed several projects. A more comprehensive list of activities and projects is below;

  • Explored areas of improvement for company technology, marketing, & fund allocation
  • Managed the UX design, navigation, and mobile capabilities of the company portal
  • Designed presentations that outlined goals, long term projects rollouts & organization strategies
  • Created and implemented low-cost technology-based projects for events, to expand the company’s brand and social footprint
  • Curated proposals for corporate partnerships, including a veteran financial education program that was awarded a $10,000 grant for implementation (which will be talked about further in the next section)

Veteran Financial Education Project

This project is what I consider one of my biggest achievements, not based on monetary gains but based on the good that this project created. One of the campaigns we worked on was the development of a financial education training ramp, classes, and resources for our veterans. This program was designed to provide veterans the tools they needed to have a better financial footing during their reintegration back into society as a whole. The program’s inception came from a Citi Bank initiative to invest $10,000 into the top projects from local non-profits all over the US. The program that was developed for Combat2College was awarded the $10,000 grant along with 3 other non-profits and was recognized nationally as a National Citi Bank partner.
I have also included some of the information about the program that was developed.

Roadmap

Here is the downloadable MS Powerpoint project roadmap;

Financial Handbook

This is the financial handbook that was created for veterans. I worked with a veteran at Citi Bank to create this.

Recognition

Due to the size of this national campaign and the further partnership with CitiBank we had a whole section written about the project in the Citi monthly veteran newsletter. (located on page 2)

Closing statement

I left Combat2College in 2019, and unfortunately, due to the same struggles many businesses faced in 2020, they had to close their doors the next year.
